💌 Plot Summary

Sophie, a young American fact-checker and aspiring writer, travels to Verona, Italy with her fiancé Victor.

While Victor is preoccupied with sourcing ingredients for his new restaurant, Sophie explores the city and discovers the “Secretaries of Juliet”, a group of women who reply to love letters left at Juliet’s (from Romeo and Juliet) courtyard.

Sophie finds an old, unanswered letter from 1957 written by Claire, a woman who once left her true love, Lorenzo Bartolini, in Italy.

Moved by the story, Sophie replies to Claire’s letter — and soon Claire (now elderly) arrives in Italy with her grandson Charlie to find Lorenzo.
