🔍 Plot Overview

Here’s what happens, without spoiling everything:

• Simon McNally is a young man with a mental illness — he was institutionalized for many years and is now released. His relationship with his older sister DeeDee is strained.

• One day Simon believes he witnesses a woman being abducted and forced into a van. Because of his history, the police are skeptical.

• He turns to his neighbor, Ed Deerman — a retired campus security guard — for help. Ed is reluctant but eventually joins Simon in trying to track down the missing woman.

• Together, using clues like a partial license plate, descriptions, and locations, they try to piece together what really happened. Along the way, Simon’s hallucinations (including the voice of his abusive deceased father) complicate matters, and there are emotional confrontations.

• There’s a twist involving stolen license plates, sex trafficking, and hidden safe-rooms. Simon and Ed face danger as they get closer to the truth, including a confrontation with a trafficker, and ultimately rescue the missing woman.
